The Full Story
A Beautiful Company was founded in 1994 by brothers Alex and Petrit Marku. Brothers Chris and Giovanni joined the company as it grew over time. To this day, the firm continues to be family owned and operated. Despite its substantial expansion, A Beautiful Company has not lost sight of its founding principles of integrity, quality workmanship and customer satisfaction.
A Beautiful Company started out as a painting and remodeling contractor specializing in old world craftsmanship. It has evolved into a major general contracting business over the past 27 years.
Today, A Beautiful Company is a multi-million dollar, women owned, commercial and residential construction company with clients in three states; Connecticut, New York and Rhode Island.
The Marku family emigrated from Rimini, Italy to southeastern Connecticut. Their work ethic and impeccable attention to detail are inspired by Italian artistry and expert design. A Beautiful Company has embraced American technology deploying state of the art construction techniques and tools without losing their trademark, hands on service and quality assurance.
One defining attribute that you should know about the Marku’s is their sense of pride. They are so appreciative to live and work in the United States. Since emigrating, they are all proud to have earned their American citizenship. Equally important, the Marku family has earned the respect and appreciation of their colleagues and customers. They will each tell you that they are living the American dream.
The Marku’s success has inspired the family to give back to the southeastern Connecticut community in many ways. They have given generously to Catholic Charities and other nonprofit organizations that serve the needs of the less fortunate. They are members of the New London Rotary Club and the Home Builders and Remodelers Association of Eastern Connecticut. Alex Marku is honored to serve as a Director of the Mystic Aquarium and privileged to be President of New London Rotary 2020-21.
Since starting the construction company, the Marku family has built two highly successful restaurants that are family owned and operated. In 2010, Buon Appetito opened on Route 2 in North Stonington. Il Pomo’Doro debuted in 2018 at Flanders Four Corners in East Lyme. It is not surprising that these popular dining establishments feature authentic Italian cuisine. They have earned a stellar reputation for fine dining and customer satisfaction.
